THIS IS GRACE...

Please tell us a little about your background.

I’m a Midwest girl. My mom is from South Dakota and I grew up in Minnesota. I went to elementary and middle school in Minnesota and then I moved to L.A. when I was 13.

What gave you the push/want to be a model?

When I was 13, I was diagnosed with a Brain Stem Glioma Tumor. There is no standard treatment for my type of tumor so I decided to go towards more natural approaches. I really focus on eating healthy, holistic treatments, and following my dreams. After being diagnosed, I started pursuing my career.

Do you have a schedule or a routine when you go to work?

When you go to a print shoot or a day of filming you never know what to except. One day you could be inside against a white backdrop and the next you could be on top of a building in -20 degree weather. But one thing that I always have to do is school because I am a minor. So that’s usually as close to a routine as it gets.

What inspires you lately?

I’m in love with my neighborhood. I live in Beverly Hills, two blocks away from Rodeo Dr. I often find my self walking around and looking at the architecture and the stores. I love living so close to the stores and being able to see all of the collections in person; instead of looking at pictures of them online.

From what i’ve read on your Instagram bio. you seem to be battling with a brain tumor (I send you healthy and happy energy,)is there one person or playlist that helps ease what you're going through?

For sure. I’m always listening to music. My music taste is very old school mixed with new. Last year I bought a record player and I own every single Lana Del Rey album on vinyl. Lana Del Rey is playing 99% of the time in my house.

If there was one plaza, nook, restaurant (just any general place) you could spend hours at, where would it be?

There is this tiny all natural Cafe in Minneapolis called Tao Foods. All of the food is so good and they have so many cool nicknacks in the store. I love going there, getting a green juice, and just chilling.

What was your most treasured memory when modeling for Chloe?

The Chloé shoot was a part of a project for Teen Vogue X Parsons and we shot it in the middle of Times Square. It was super awkward because there was a bunch of people watching. We also shot it in the middle of the street and almost got run over by a bunch of cabs. It was crazy!

What do you love most about the fashion industry?

Definitely how everyone can express them selves any way they want. You can wear what ever you want and you can create what ever you want. Also, everyone is so creative and I love being around people like that.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

I think 2017 is going to be a big year. I have so many exciting things in the works and I cant wait to see how this year turns out and to share everything I’m working on!

PALOMA WOOL

PALOMA WOOL

DESIGNER - ARTIST - INNOVATOR

Barcelona based designer/artist Paloma Wool gives us her stilling insights on her innovative process. An artist who displays the human body in its true form with an abstract yet simplistic point of view. The one and only, Paloma Wool.

What lead you to start the Paloma Wool store?

My parents created the brand @nicethingspalomas 25 years ago, I grew up with it. My parents supported I start my own brand but it wasnt clear to me how i wanted to approach my own project until i started connecting my love for photography and my curiosity in art with fashion.

Who is the woman who wears Paloma Wool?

I believe she’s a women who appreciates a story behind what she is wearing.

What has influenced your recent collection?

My last collection was inspired by a painting I came across while flipping through one of my mothers art books. An image of bathing women by Emile Bernard.

What are some necessities you need around you while designing?

We have all these glass jars full of colourful fabrics we have been collecting for years. They are my go to.
I also like to have a bag of nuts around :)

If you could choose one person to design a collection with who would it be?

Simon Porte Jacquemus or Consuelo Castiglioni (Marni)

If you could tell a little bit about your background.

Im chilean, very proudly. I love my country and all that entails. Growing up, I had a very artistic shaping. My mom is an actress, now a teacher and my dad a musician. My Grandfather a poet, my aunt an architect and musician, and so on. Math was never my thing in school, still isn't. I’ve always loved writing, doodling, thinking and learning.

ART

-

Your work feels almost scripturally boorish, with this unneeded need for space - yet incredibly sharp. Where does your inspiration originate from?

My inspiration comes from everything around me, the faces I see in the street and never get to know, the people I know like the palm of my hand, the view that wakes me up in the morning, my loving mom, my friends, my cat, my teachers. My teachers. I think I already said this but I really like learning, it’s really entertaining for me to get out of my comfort zone, feel ignorant. My inspiration comes many times from that feeling of ignorance and curiosity. My urge to not be ignorant.

HOMELAND

-

What are your favorite things about living in South America?

The people and the landscape. Latinoamerica is what it is because of the people and where the people are. Culture lives within us and we make it everyday. That culture wouldn't be the same without the geographic placement in which we find ourselves. To understand human behavior, I have come to learn, one must understand their geographical context. What makes Chile is its mountain and ocean for example. The spirit of the latin american never stops amazing me too. The latin woman specially, the strength behind them and the pride that they have for everything theirs. I just love it, and love calling myself south american.

BEAUTY

-

If you could tell a little about your philosophy on general style, beauty and well being. Where do you find a balance in a healthy lifestyle- from eating a certain amount to workouts?

My philosophy is no particular philosophy. The way I live is right for me but might not be for the person sitting next to me. We need to find a recipe that works for us as individuals, and even then it might fluctuate from time to time. There just has to be some sort of balance. You are what you eat. You are what you wear. You are what you say. You are what you do. You are the energy that you give out. Just keep that in mind and figure out what you want to project to the world. Move on from there.

What are some products you swear by?

I'm pretty sure the only product that is constant in my life is my toothpaste. Oh, and body cream.  Always brush your teeth Always stay moisturized.. But besides that, whatever you want works. Honestly, I've never been big on cosmetics, I never really learnt how to put makeup on my face too well. To keep my skin clear I drink loads of tea and water, eat well and workout. But other than that I have failed to keep a constant routine when it comes to cosmetics.

MIND

-

I know you’ve talked a lot to me about having various avocations. What would be the ones you spend more age on?

I've come to realize that learning is my thing. I love being a student. I like going to class. Also, I love doing my art. Those are the two things I now spend most of my time on. Learning and growing as an artist.

Who has played the biggest role in your blooming youth?

My mom. I love her. She is my rock, she supports me on everything and knows everything about me. She made me who I am, taught me all what I know. My grandfather played a real big role in my life when I was really young too. I learned how to speak with him and my love for words was born because of him. I lived in a house with my mom, dad and grandfather until I was about 5. My love for spanish and my country also comes from there.

"ARTIST - YOGI - REGULAR WANDERER" + A FASHION MUSE

I found Sally through Instagram a while ago and I couldn't believe the wonderful vibes I got by scrolling through her pictures. Sally is the definition of a Nature Baby. I aspire to reach her level of openness, mindfulness, and loving aura. Being that she is so inspirational to me I decided to interview her and sooo here it is!

If you could choose a top 10 list of where you've traveled too, which ones would you choose?

Oh man haha actually half of them would be in Australia, I spent a year traveling around my own beautiful land and was blown away-

Esperance WA Australia

Jarvis bay NSW Australia

Margaret River WA Australia

Fraser Island Australia

Wilson prom VIC Australia

India

Sri Lanka

Japan

New Zealand's South Island

Indonesia

The list goes on...

What would you like to be doing in five years?

I want to teach people how to be happy :)

I want to see as much of this world as I can and I want to create beautiful wonderful things

Through your photographs I can get the vibe you live a healthy lifestyle? If so what are some essentials in that lifestyle?

Your health is your wealth. I spend equal amount of my day on my body, mind and soul. I'm awake at 5am to watch the sunrise and asleep by 10pm most nights, in between I'm doing yoga, running, surfing, swimming and creating :)

I can see that you’re into the bohemian style, what would be your top 5 brands?

I love vintage to be honest, I shop at op shops, alter my clothes and most of my

Outfits have been sourced from my travels. I have kick arse African vests, Indian saris and band shirts from Japan.

I saw some of your art, how do you describe your art style? & what mediums are you're favorite?

Hehe it's all a bit crazy, this question get asked a lot but it's actually different every time. I'm in a world of my own when I paint and sometimes I follow a bit of a style but it's really just wild creative and random. It's definitely abstract and is inspired by the landscapes I have seen.
